I was the happiest person on earth when I discovered frozen açaí in my local health food store. I’ve seen people praise açaí to the skies so I was more than curious to finally try it myself. Luckily the packet came with four 100g sachets so I could remake it the next day… and then again … and again. ?
All of the four açaí bowls I made were incredibly delicious and I finally understand why the online world is going crazy about açaí. I thought it was just another exotic but unnecessary superfood people buy simply because they follow a trend.
I totally misunderstood the açaí craze! It’s really all about the incredible taste.
Thank god I bought this frozen açaí (even though it was 7€ for 400g)! Else I would never have experienced this unbelievable deliciousness!! For me, açaí tastes like not-so-sweet dark berries like currants and blackberries mixed with cacao. The taste of pure açaí is a bit weird but once it’s blended up with some sweet fruit it makes every smoothie 200% better! My family was just as surprised as I was when they tried the finished result.
I’m a huge fan of spices and greens and try to sneak them into as many dishes as possible. Therefore my açaí bowl recipe features nutmeg and spinach (which are optional but majorly increase the antioxidant content of your smoothie) and some healthy fats (almond milk) for improved nutrient absorption.

I never knew how amazing granola INSIDE a smoothie was until I tried it at a vegan place in Munich. Unfortunately, I haven’t been to Bali or any of those other trendy places so this acai bowl was the only one I’ve ever had. Nevertheless, IT CHANGED MY LIFE!
Frozen acai + bananas + granola = MAGIC
Don’t go for the powders. Get the REAL stuff. The difference is insane!
Now let’s blend up some fruit & greens
Creamy Açaí Bowl
- 100 g frozen acai
- 1 frozen banana(s)
- 2 banana(s)
- 100 g frozen spinach
- 100 g frozen cherries
- 100 g frozen blueberries
- 3 dates
- 120 ml almond milk (120ml = 1/2 cup)
- 0.25 tsp nutmeg
- Pit the dates and peel the banana. Take frozen bananas, spinach, berries, cherries and açaí out of the freezer.
- Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender on full power until smooth.
- Place some granola at the bottom of a bowl, then layer the acai smoothie on to. Decorate with your favourite fruit, more granola, and other toppings of your choice.
